Kali has continued to get better. The vet was very pleased with her progress but decided to keep her on the same medication for another two weeks. I don’t know if the medication is simply controlling her symptoms or if she’s actually getting over her illness but the change in Kali over the past two weeks has been really noticeable. It is so good to see the playful, inquisitive, comical and noisy Kali that I used to know emerge from the withdrawn state she’s been in for the past months. She’s become really active again at night and is waking us up with all the noise she makes as she crashes about her cage. I had removed most of her toys from her cage in case they were making her ill but I think its time she had them back.

Kali’s been on holiday with us in the Lake District and she was quite a lot better during the week we were away. She’d been to the vets just before we went away and the vet has changed her medication. They analysed a sample of her droppings and found some evidence of some bacteria which should be there so Kali is back on a course of antibiotics and she’s also having something for the stomach pains. To help her digestion she’s also on imodium! She has another appointment at vets on Monday evening.

I didn’t notice any improvement in Kali while she was on the chipmunk food so I’m I’ve been giving her guinea pig since Sunday. I think it is making her worse! Her droppings contain more soft poos and she seems to be having trouble passing them. If her poos don’t start getting firmer tonight I’ll put her back onto her normal parrot food.
