Ouch! Kali's bitten me again. I'd just got home from work and was giving her her early evening sunflower seeds. I'd dropped a few seeds through the top of her house and was trying to entice her out of her nest by rubbing the back of my hand on the side of her wire. Suddenly she leapt out of her nest and rushed across to where my hand was and bit into the back of my hand. Its such a shame because she hasn't bitten me since July last year.

Despite the bad weather over the bank holiday weekend, I finished making Kali's holiday house and I made a secure lid for the plastic tank which she'll travel in. Over the past few evenings I've introduced kali to her holiday house and now she'll happily climb in and out of it. List night she sat herself in one corner of it and spend about 10 minutes grooming herself. I wonder if she'll be quite so relaxed after an eight hour journey to Scotland!

Kali is still making her nest on the top self of her house. She often re-sites her nest after she's been cleaned out but last weekend she remade her nest in the same place. She has started taking her breakfast monkey nuts from me again in the mornings but instead of coming to her door to get them she now only comes to the edge of the top shelf and has them through the bars.

Kali's is still sulking. She reluctantly came out for her playtime last night but she sat in a corner grooming herself for about 20 minutes before she started running around and even then she was quite subdued. She really perked up when I gave her a new room to explore. I let her into the main bedroom, which has recently been redecorated and is still mostly empty, and she raced around in there exploring all the corners. She tried to get under the chest of draws but the gap wasn't big enough so she proceeded to chew the new carpet! I was able to stop her before any damage was done but I had to shut her out of the room after that.

I'd hoped that by this morning Kali would have moved her bed down to the floor of her house but she was still on her shelf silly girl.

Its not long to go now before our holiday and I still haven't finished Kali's holiday house. I did do a bit more work on it at the weekend but once again I've run out of bits and pieces.

By the way Kali has been behaving since the weekend you would think that she knows something is about to happen. Since I cleaned her out on Saturday she's decided to make her bed on the top shelf of her house and it must be very uncomfortable for her. She is also refusing to come and get her breakfast monkey nuts from me. She's done this before so I hope that she gets back to normal in a day or so.

I weighed her again on Saturday, for the first time in ages, and she's now just under 1.5 Kg. I'm planning to update her weight charts with a couple of new graphs which will show the detail of her early growth spurt and a more general graph showing her monthly growth over her first 12 months.

Kali's exhibited another new behaviour. The other night I discovered that she really likes having her rump tickled. I was stroking her as usual, along her back and when I got to the base of her tail she reversed into my hand and really pushed hard backwards with all four feet firmly planted into the carpet. She stayed like this for a couple of minutes while I scratched and tickled her.

She seems to enjoy her playtimes more and more. She was especially active on Sunday night, probably because she'd missed one evenings playtime because we'd been away. She was rushing about from the moment I got her out and then, just before her hour was up, she just flopped down in one of her favourite corners. I wish I'd had the camera ready because she looked really comical with the front legs sticking out sideways and the side of her head flat on the carpet. I was a bit worried to start with but she was just tired out. After a short rest she was rushing about again.

I've done a bit more on her holiday house now that I've got more nuts and bolts. As soon as the four sides are done I'll introduce Kali to it so she's used to it before we go away on holiday.
