Ambaa had the end of her tail amputated yesterday. The damage at the end wasn’t healing and she was in a lot of pain so there was really no choice.

She came through the operation OK and was back home the same day but she doesn’t look very happy. She went back into her main house but didn’t go into her nest. She sat huddled up in the open. She immediately started to eat a piece of apple and she had more food later on but she hasn’t moved about much. This morning she was still in the same spot although she had pulled a few bits of bedding around her.

Ambaa is going to have to have an operation to remove the tip of her tail. It hasn’t healed and there is a bit of bone protruding from the end.

She has been enduring weekly vet visits where the healing of her tail has been monitored carefully but if anything it is getting worse.

Her other wounds are healing well and, apart from her painful tail, she is doing OK.
